Actually, I know the Air Force at least banned its use due to safety concerns. In one case a pilot applied Armor-All to the sidewalls of the tires on his aircraft. In the process, he got it all over the brake rotors. Subsequently, the next time he landed he couldn't stop and ran off the runway, damaging his aircraft. In typical military efficiency, they simply banned the use of cosmetic enhancers rather than go through the unnecessary trouble of devising a set of rules for their appropriate use (a shiny dash or sidewalls are, after all, not necessary to fulfill any of their missions). -- John Bange '90 Vanagon - "Geldsauger" |
