I'd say the tuition bill is for his kids, at that age. I've met few mechanics who were good about saving money for the future. My Aunt's second husband would still be working the parts counter at the FLAPS if he didn't get lucky when the worthless old house he bought in the 70's got swalowed up by "suburbanization", making it worth a fortune...
