Hello. Marklar is being prepared for a long haul west and 5 month stay in Long Beach, Washington. 1) I need a starter. I had a subaru conversion done and it seems that I should upgrade from the 1994 version to at least the 96 and up, if not a hi-torque from gowesty. This seems wise, yes? I would rather get a rebuilt bosch than the hitachi, you can't "overstart" the van, you know? Are there any starters in vanagon land sitting around? I'd rather buy from ya'll. manual trans. 2) I would like a tow hitch to tow a small utility trailer of about 1000pds worth of tools and such. Will the hitch that mounts to the frame tow hooks carry a 2" receiver capable of towing this load? Or am I better off blowing a wad of cash on tubular bumpers and/or a multi-point frame mounted hitch....i'd rather not increase my weight any more with huge bumpers (even tho i think they look cool). Advice? 3) I posted about two weeks ago about my sliding door not working. Turns out that the "U" shaped bolt that connects the door to the roller in the channel was locked solid. Took it all apart, cleaned with wd-40, lubed, and it works fantastically. Apparently in the roller assembly there is a little hole where oil can be added periodically... it hadn't been. Great resolve for $0.00 and about 4 hours troubleshooting and repair. I know that spring mechanism in side and out now, if there are any questions... Thanks for all the help in the archives and through your posts. Dan 83 Adventurewagen 2.2 subie |
