In my '85 Westy the getting wet/dirty when getting in or out on the passenger side is handled by the mounting of a paper towel holder just behind the passenger seat ... on the inboard side of the plastic covering the curtain slides. In that location it's handy from the front, through the sliding door, and while standing in the kitchen. I added an "L" shaped piece of thin metal across the top that puts a slight pressure on the roll of towels. This doesn't keep it from working normally but it does keep the roll from unrolling itself when the passenger window is rolled down.

As to the driver's side ... I just keep a paper towel in the map pocket or stuffed between the seat and the seatbelt anchor.

This isn't the same solution as having fender flairs but it gets the job done.

Mike
