Hmmm.....

I don't consider myself the "primary owner" because I'm not
mechanically talented enough to feed a Vanagon's addiction to being
repaired.  But I was the primary motivation for us finding a camping
van.  I just couldn't see a good trade-off in spending two hours
packing the car, driving two hours, spending two hours unpacking the
car and setting up, only to have to do the same in reverse a day or
two later.

I'm blessed that S has the mechanical aptitude and also the
inclination to keep our "lady" in repair.  If I had been on my own,
I'd have probably wound up with a smallest-sized pick-em-up truck with
some variety of shell that I could sleep in.  That would have resolved
my interminable-packing-unpacking issues.  

But it's not nearly as gracious a camping companion as our
'Esmerelda'.
