I gotta pipe in on this.... Don't smell right to me... my 2 cents. best, JC...

Although I struggle with a price like this it's obviously in the eye of the beholder...but at the same time these Vanagon conversion seem very over priced. I have friends who have put corvette engines in their jeeps professionally for 1/2 the price of what an indie mech would charge for a SVX conversion...surprising to me us vanagon lovers would put the money some do into these things...but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Kind of silly for him to qualify it that way. If it doesn't reach reserve, it's a moot point whether the driveshatf and AC work or not. I think he was trying to give full disclosure. A low mileage Syncro GL with a well done SVX conversion is a pretty nice thing. What's it worth? What is its competition? An SUV. A Jeep? One cannot just go out and buy something like it, so it is hard to measure its worth in middle class values. Is it worth 45% of what a new Ford Explorer is worth? It won't cost that much. Is it worth what new plastic siding on your house would cost? It won't cost that much either (depending on your house size and a few other factors.) If you look at that ad and feel passion, then good for you- go for it! I like it too, but will sit out this round. I'm spendig my next bunch of money on my garage, then a lift. Al Brase
