Hi Sam,

A way to prevent the corrosion you speak of is to put a small amount of "Die-electric" (check spelling) grease on it. Just clean the contact with a brass brush and apply the grease. You can find it at any good FLAPS or Radio Shack. A small tube is only a couple bucks, and will last years. Also works good on battery terminals, or almost any connection you want to stay clean. Don't forget the grounds on those lights! A dab of the grease here too.
