Couldn't resist a short comment. Many years ago, I modified the under-swivel-seat area of my Westfalia on the driver's side to mount an 8" Pioneer subwoofer with the internal cavity re-fabricated into a tuned bass-reflex speaker enclosure. The speaker is mounted in the center of the swivel retaining plate. The sub-woofer fires to the underside of the drivers seat adding several significant mph to any cruise. Fiberglass sound matting helped tune the response of the "cabinet" to be nearly ideal for the speaker. I had attempted to use a 10" sub-woofer at first and can't recall if that turned out to be the final configuration. On the passenger side, I mounted the high power primary amplifier for the rest of the sound system - Boston co-axials in the upper front doors and in the rear Westy cabinet and high weight woofers in the lower part of the front doors. The sub-woofer power amp is mounted against the cabinet wall behind the driver's seat. The CD changer is mounted in the Westy cabinet below the sink. More than a kW of power all together, as I recall. All detailed in the archives and pictures at Alistair Bell's web site. I tuned it for classical music and it has eliminated any suggestion of engine noise from the DZ/I4 engine trans power combination for these many years. Now I must turn to the ipod interface issues, when I return to my modification mode again.
