As a past pro video installer working for MTV for 7 years I can tell you that we used to use Adobe Premiere on the mid 90's on the Mac. At that time the PC and Mac versions were the same, once Final Cut came on the scene we made the jump over, but most of your very high end users are using Avid, both on Mac and PC. Some have made the switch to the Final Cut Pro because of the value you get in the Mac software, basically all the features of AVID but at a quarter of the price and without being locked into any specific hardware to use.

I doubt that the current Adobe Premiere is on Par with Final Cut Pro but for most users it will provide enough of the Pro-Sumer level editing abilities for small projects. If that is not good enough look at Avid Xpress on the PC, it is more affordable and will scale up to the full on pro Avid system if necessary.

Regards, to all,

Rob
