Subject: VW wifes

Since its Friday, thought I would bring up often mentioned subject. How
our wifes respond to our vans.(or significant what ever!!! Vice Versa
ect... ect...) What brings this to mind is a friend of mine emailing me
that his
wife won't let him rebuild the motor in his van. Its not that they
can't afford it,but their not rich either. She see's
the van as "silly thing". Thats censoring it so my kids can read over
my shoulder. It makes me thankfull for having my wife.
Those of you who have been lucky enough to meet her at a campout or
event know what I mean. I have had
several campers and vans. She loved my 78 Westy and drove it to work
during fall right on up to the beginning of
winter. With no heat, but she would still enjoy the short cold ride.
When we sold it a couple years back (it was getting rusty and the
kids bigger) and picked up a 91 she quickly claimed it as hers. The
first upgrade was tires and rims. She agreed to the 15" Rhein wheels.
Claimed it was the best upgrade we heard nothing but good things about
the motor. I ordered the motor and installed it last winter. She was
on my back to get her van on the road, but wanted a nice job done. When
I ask how she likes the new motor she says,"its nice." When coming home
from work one day I noticed her in the high speed lane doing 80. I
tried to catch up ,but couldn't do it. Now when I ask her about the
motor now I get ,"it moves!!! ." I installed project tzwo driving
lights. She won't drive without them on. Asked her if I could sell them
once and was quickly shot down.
Amy also hosts Buses By the Mill at her parents property. Her and Rich
Macensky run that show. They do all the planning, shopping, cooking and
cleaning. I just ramble around and talk vans all weekend. I'm real
lucky to
have a wife that loves our vans just as much as I do. So Ted, maybe I
can get my wife to talk to yours. I'll even bring the kids over as back
up. If that doesn't work maybe we can hide the van in my garage for a
bit.
You'll have to save your lunch money so we can buy new heads, but she'll
never know.
