Thanks, Doug. How can I tell whether it's the clutch or the syncros? Also, if the clutch is dragging, does that mean I need to replace the clutch? If it's the syncros, do I need to rebuild the tranny? Thanks again. --- Doug F <vanagon@astound.net> wrote: > clutch dragging or worn syncros on the gears. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "John Lavery" <systems007@YAHOO.COM> > To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> > Sent: Monday, February 20, 2006 5:48 PM > Subject: Manual transmission grinds when shifted into into 2nd, 3rd > gears > > > > Hello all! > > > > My Vanagon is making a grinding noise when shifted from 1st to 2nd > > gear, or sometimes from 2nd to 3rd.
