The South African vans have the steering wheels on the wrong side along with the sliding doors. The engines were not EPA certified either. Use of a Registered Importer will get most German/Austrian made Vanagons legally into the US. The question is mainly the high cost. I think there are a couple people here who are working on getting into this business. I remember David Marshall discussing the 25 year rule (emissions), but the European dealers seem eager to import to the USA now. How is it done, and what is a rough guesstimate on the shipping costs to the east coast. Also, has anyone ever imported a van from South Africa? That seems to be the way to get a much newer van. >Thanks, Anthony > >'89 Syncro GL (Hidalgo) > > >--------------------------------- >Relax. Yahoo!
