Subject: Discover a source of cheap A/C compressors
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Didnt think I ment new ,did you? Seems that the Landrover Discovery from 86 till I dont know when, came with the Sanden 510. It even has the M head with screw attachments for the hoses, and double V-belt drive pully. Is this a direct drop in for the 83.5 to 85 ? Seems so. I think the later Discoverys had a SD 709 with the push on hose connections.Maybe identical to the vanagon 86 to 91. The only reason I bring this up is that there may be a good chance that any of these compressors will be in good condition. These vehilces are showing up in junkyards all over the place now.Almost ,you can take your pick of compressors.Shop till you find a shinny new one on an old Landrover.$25 each in my local yard. They seem to have a problem with front strut tower rust out that may put them in the junkyard. I mean , how often will an owner of a Landrover Discovery drive around in the summer with broken a/c? A $40K SUV.Not hardly.Get a couple of extra cubic inches of compressor this way.The SD 508 only has 8 cu in.
