Hoo boy, that's a whole 'nother can of worms, whether the gov't is 'broke' or not- take that any way you want to. : )

If the gov't is insolvent (it isn't? hmmm...) you better have some diamonds and Krueggerands down in that hole 'cause you'll be using those Benjamins for toilet paper.

Aside from that, I don't think your plan would work all that well for those of us in earthquake country. A hurricane might take your house and leave your hole, but an good earthquake would leave you digging for a while, probably with your hands.

Maybe you should hide 'em by the Vgon brake fluid reservoir- that way nobody'd ever find them.
