Subject: Westy Dometic Fridge problem
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

As many of you may know I'm currently travelling in Mexico . I have experienced a problem with my fridge the likes I've never seen before so am asking the collective wisdom for some help.

The fridge, the famous Dometic fridge, in our Vanagon Westys, operated flawlessly up until a week or so ago. It quit cooling on the propane setting even though the flame was still lit. Arriving at a campground with electricity I ran the fridge on 110 and it quickly got cold. Let that run overnight and then started the propane service again and it worked fine for a week then yesterday the same story. Propane operation, no cooling, fire was lit, checked by several methods. Campground, run on electric and it cools just fine. I will start the propane service again this evening and see what happens. I'm almost ready to bet it will work but will probably quit as we drive down the road again. What is that all about ? Sure baffles the hell out me. The cooling system is activated by a heat source, right ? So why would it cool with heat form the electric service and not the propane service ? Or more so why does it work on the propane service then quit working ? Anyone ever experience this phenomenon or have an explanation...........?
