Tim, Fist, be sure that the brake fluid you added is DOT 4, not something else. It won't have anything to do with the light, but has a lot to do with braking. It has a higher temperature rating and is needed for braking for the heavier vanagon or westy. Check all of your brakes to be sure there is no leakage. If they are OK, next bleed the brakes. Lastly, if the barkes are bled, the light is out, and the pedal still goes to the floor, even when you try an pump it up - you may well have an internal failure in the master cylinder. Only by replacing it will you know for sure.
