Fun ride though. Malcolm

I had the opposite problem...

My van surges a bit when decelerating around 1500rpm. Being the genius I am, I thought I'd see if the throttle was in fact closing fully when I took my foot off the pedal. While driving on the freeway, I reached down to the gas pedal, and pulled it up slightly. Pop! Uh oh. Pop? Turns out the pedal is loosely press fit onto the rod it connects to, and by pulling up slightly the two parts disconnected. So I'm driving down the freeway with my hand on the gas pedal (which is now just flopping around loosely), the other hand on the wheel, and my cheek on the dashboard. By fumbling around I was able to grab the push rod and, after a minute, was actually able to drive that way.

Lesson learnt: Don't do that. :-)
