The first thing you need to do is find out where the fluid went. It has to be leaking somewhere so expect that some repair work is needed. Frequent failures are the rear wheel cylinders, bake hoses, or rusted out brake lines. The master cylinder, front calipers, and other places are also suspects.

Anytime the brake system takes in air, the brake system needs to be bleed. Use only a DOT 4 fluid. Brake should be changed every 2 years anyway.
