What's with all the unimogs? I've seen two in Los Angeles in the last two days. One with German license plates, on with some other European plates, but I didn't take notice from where.

These things are like some kind of Westfalia gone wrong--or right. There's something kind of right about the one Unimog I saw in Beverly Hill pumping diesel smoke from underneath about the middle of the rig right into the window of the Bentley next to it. It wasn't nearly as funny when it got next to me and pumped my little Fox full of smoke. But the thing was fascinating.

Is there some kind of trans- America Unimog tour I wasn't invited on?

These things area all over the place in Africa... Germans and other Euros take a year or two off and ship them to "exotic lands" like the US. I used to live in Moab, Utah and they were always coming through -- many of them on an "around-the-world" adventure. So much said for Americas "liberal" vacation policies!!! Enjoy your two weeks!!
