hi mark... the 2 prong plug that goes to the upper tabs on the coil only has the one fatter green wire going to it.. the other plug has no wire (where the smaller green tach wire would normally be) in the wiring junction box on the firewall there are the 2 round 7 pin connectors.. one connector plug has a small green wire going to it, but the joining plug that plugs into it has a blue wire mating up to it on the matching pin of the connecting plug....??

so why would VW build a wiring harness with the green tach wire in position #9 of the 14pt plug into the cluster, and then have the wire go nowhere? where does the green wire go? is the small green wire i see in the round 7pt plug in the junction box that connects with the blue wire, the tach wire?

any ideas?
