I would re-do both on that side just because I had the axle off already. If I was feeling really diligent I might do all four on both sides. Gotta figure if one of 'em cracked, the rest probably are of the same vintage and not in any better shape. If you change them all, you can stop worrying about them for a while.

But that's just me. Most of my repair strategy is based on worry reduction. My last name is apparently quite appropriate with regard to my Vanagon driving temprament: <*http://tinyurl.com/pfpjc*>
