my idea would be a decal overlay, pre-positioned. the decals would already be in the correct position, just place the decal over your freshly repainted LED panel, and rub the letters on. done.

this would be simple to make.....vinyl computer die-cut lettering on a prepositioned decal overlay the same dimensions as the LED display panel. no chance of messing up..
