Is it really Alzheimer's? It may only be Quartshiemer's, or Halfsheimer's. You did remember the earlier discusion, after all... ;-P

And the solution was described as a sharp X-acto knife, carefully applied to both ends of the stubby little hose. And Almost agreed on was the spring-type rather than screw-type clamps, for leak-proof connections...
