Makes a case for one of these "pop up" self erecting tents. http://tinyurl.com/mwrfw They are made with "rings" and fold up like a sunshade or band saw blade. You just unzip and toss on the ground. Yer "tent-n" Then you get some of those wax heads and do a birds of Alcatraz on em. ----- Original Message ----- From: Rob Campbell To: Doug F Cc: vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com Sent: Friday, February 24, 2006 5:23 PM Subject: Re: "Stealth" mishaps: WAS Are pop-up tops really necessary??

I did ask "what if I pitched a tent, but found it cold, and moved inside in the middle of the night?" he said if you pitch a tent, you need to sleep in it. Otherwise RVers waste the tenting parking spots. I can imagine this being an issue in the busy season, but I was literally the only vehicle in either the tenting loop or the RV section. Zero-Tolerance is pretty much always a bad idea in my book, but I guess I respect the guy's dilligence, in a kindof twisted way. FWIW this is the only campsite I've ever had this happen, I almost always choose the non-hookup tenting sites (cheaper and I dont really use any AC power) and have never had it mentioned, nor seen it posted that this is wrong or impolite.

I suppose "popping the top" and sleeping inside a "canvas, tented" area, Is not considered "in a tent" ?

Seems like it should be, although, I guess it would make those on the ground envious.

Perhaps there is an area for "ground camping" where you could kick those spoiled "tent dwellers" outa there!

What if you had one of those tent platforms with an actual tent on top of yer car? Might have the ole park ranger wondering.......
