i have a vanagon here and couldnt figure out why the passengers side capt chair had all the stitching rotted out on the back part of it. the velour fabric was fine, but the stitching that held the seat fabric and piping together had completely disentigrated at the back part of the seatbottom... only at the back.. not the front part of the seatbottom.. then i thought.. Battery! i took the seatbottom to a local interior shop to be restiched, and the guy agreed with me.. improperly vented battery, or battery acid "vapors" had made the stitching rot out.. anyone ever seen this before? how many of you have your battery properly vented w/ the little tube, etc? chris |
