I figured the extension poles were similar to recessing radio antennas. Perhaps with the further sections being made of carbon fiber, or fiberglass, while the inner portions being metal. I agree, I was thinking electric motors at all 4 wheels, rather than a centrally located engine. "Batteries" could consist of fuel cells (again in the side panels), with solar cells on the top to create the hydrogen from the water in the tank.) I have my doubts about that creating enough electricity, but I don't have the stats on how much electricity is generated from a fuel cell of X size. The REAL problem comes in making these feature conform to the real world safety requirements. That chair transforming into steps is practical and cool, but would it still be capable of meeting current safety requirements in a locked position? This is one of the bug-a-boos in many concept cars. Conforming to safety specs may require changes in the concept car, which then affects other features.
