Jeff wrote; Hi All, Does anyone think switching from 14" to 15" wheels will cause a significant loss of power as perceived by the driver? I've heard that the bigger tires and wheels may slow the vehicle. Thanks. Jeff 1991 MV Jeff, The size of the wheel will make no difference to the gearing of your van. There will be no "power loss" if you keep the circumference of the tire the same as stock. We use 205/65 R15 tires on the 15" rims on our van and there is no difference in "power". The 205/65 R15 tires have the same circumference as the stock 185R14 tires that came stock on the van. If you go to larger tires (215/75R15) then you may notice a difference in "power", fit and speedometer accuracy. George '85 Westfalia |
