I disagree. Go for the painted. The chrome can rust, which looks silly on an alloy wheel. The chrome will take more maintenance to look good. The painted alloys are easy enough to clean. In fact, I just cleaned mine this previous weekend (they had been getting pretty black with brake dust that wasn't washing off with normal cleaning). I used the orange hand cleaner on them, and they look like new.
