Subject: Re: Driving in Vermont...Are you nuts?!

Wow, what's with all the posts about Vermont? About going to Vermont this time of year, first thing you do is to update your will and notify your next of kin...you're gonna wind up a Virginiacicle for sure. If you haven't been there before, get ready for cold like you're probably not used to down there. The forecast for the next week or so is lows around 0 to +10, but don't be surprised if it drops below zero. Bring an extra blanket, a favorite partner, and if its really cold, a husky or malamute.

Studded snows should work well. Check your battery though, it may not want to start. My favorite camping spot this time of year would be a Motel 6. This year has been pretty low on snow, and relatively warm, but its still hard to find a spot. What part of the state are you planning to hit? I can probably give you something specific.

Also, watch out for frost heaves!!! If you see a crude sign on the side of the road that says frost heaves, slow down. They're sneaky little shock busters. Again, this year hasn't been too cold, so they shouldn't be too bad, but they can still do a number on tire rims and shocks. Cheers, Michael
