You can buy them from junk yards the early vanagons had them perhaps Chris has one.

how hard are the metal engine coers to get in the U.S. and what does one usually pay? my german used parts seller has them for $25-30, so i wonder if i add one to the next bike box thats crossing the atlantic...... are they less good in sound insulation? florian
