Well,

I started in 2001 when I got interested in the Vanagon. Started looking on the internet and found Vanagon.com, I signed up and through peoples information, and feedback I found out what to look for and eventually found a Carat in Florida.

A year later the Blue Carat caught on fire next to Rockefeller plaza in NYC. It was a real site, cops, fireman, undercover cops... I had officers asking me if there was a bomb in the car! It was almost a year after I got her, December just before Christmas. About a 2-3 weeks prior I smelt gas after it filling it up, and while it was parked, I never saw evidence of a leak anywhere. So check the lines and tank!

Well, it took a couple of years but I then picked up my second one, a Silver Wolfsburg in January of 2006. This time I vowed to take an interest in the mechanics of the van and not leave it the Professional mechanics to figure her out, regardless of how good they are... So far so good.

Thanks again to everyone on the site for their continued support of each other, their issues and ideas.

-- Rob NYC/Long Beach, NY 88 Wolfsburg, Silver
