Syncronauts of the Eastern US

More musings and information about the plans on Syncro de Mayo Este 06.

Brady Horrace talked with the folks at Paragon Adventure Park today. The large number of vehicles already booked into the Park by several large groups makes both the first weekend in May (with the real Cinco de Mayo in it), and the Memorial Day Weekends look like they wouldn't be so great. There are already over 100 vehicles booked by one group for Memorial Day weekend.

However, the two weekends in between those in May, the 12-14th and the 19-21, look far less crowded, and would be better choices. Brady prefers the latter of those two and I have no preference. Several people from the NE have contacted Brady and indicated a preference for the location of the Paragon Park to a trip to the area along the VA / WV border where we have met before. We can get much more interesting 4 WD challenges for our vehicles with just a few miles of driving. There are areas of varying difficulty marked on the map. (See the internet link I provided a couple of days ago.)

Paragon has costs however. It is $35 per day for a vehicle and each passenger over 16 is another $5 per day. Brady is going to talk to them to see if we can get a discount of any type but they usually only give a discount to larger groups. Camping on the grounds of the Park is another $5 per night. Another slightly more improved camp ground is just a few miles away. They have campfire rings so we could set up for a pot luck dinner for one night.

We have yet to hear anything from Tom Forhan or Derek Drew. Dennis Haynes has said he is much more likely to make it if we are at Paragon.

Send in your comments, etc. primarily to the Syncro list, but we will be looking at Vanagon.com and Subaruvanagon. I actually am a subscriber to about 5 or 6 other vanagon or syncro lists also.

You could also pmail me or Brady with comments, personal plans & thoughts, etc.

Sam
