We did a trick with our earlier model wood finish cabinets. Some of them were "charcoal black" fro the fire of the donor westy.

There are wood working supply places that sell veneer by the roll, in lots of differnt types of wood finishes, with self adhesive backing. Neat stuff, looks like solid wood. We matched the stain color, and just replaced the T moulding where needed.

I'd be concerned of paint scratching off of the existing melamine finish easily. Also, the moulding on the doors doesn't appear to be replaceable.
