Get a lever type seal puller such as the KD 3245. It will do the job.

Dennis's suggestion was PERFECT. Inexpensive, easy, & it came with 8mm bolts so it bolted right in! Thanks!

Now... how the hell does that drive seal come out?! By looking at the depth of the replacement seal, it's nearly 1/2 in, ridged. I can't even get a small screwdriver under the outer edge of the one I'm trying to take out. I've tapped, as Daryl suggested, but there's no indication a screwdriver is going between the seal & adjusting ring. Should I try a torch, knowing it'll melt the rubber, or keep trying with a punch/screwdriver? What about pliers if I can avoid the splined shaft? Of course I'm afraid I'll damage the adjusting ring if I get too creative.

I really appreciate everyone's help since there's no way I'd have tackled this myself. You are all invaluable.
