You probably have wear that can not be seen but instead only measured with a dial indicator and micrometer. Probably just worn out of spec. I would just retire the thing.

The only other thing that would cause that noise, yet not show wear, is bolts that have un-even torque applied. If any bolt or bolts are loose. you can get a popping or clicking sound as the face of the race of the CV works against the face of the flange on the wheel stub axle.
