Last week I proposed installing a VDO oil pressure sender in the fuel rail and hooking it up to my oil pressure gauge. Some list members expressed concern that the oil pressure sender may not be compatible with gasoline. This seemed legitimate to me, so I asked VDO. Question e-mailed to VDO tech support: Can I install a VDO oil pressure sender in the fuel rail, or are these senders incompatible with gasoline? Answer: The gasoline will corrode the oil pressure sender. 2nd question: Does VDO make a sender specifically for fuel pressure? Answer: No. While I still think this is a really cool idea in theory, I am having second thoughts about going through with it. Clearly VDO does not think it is such a good idea. Jake, 82 AC Vanagon |
