If the engine is still healthy and clean, no problem. The real question is what are you trying to gain at this point?

My '84 1.9l is pushing 198,000 miles. Although I've thought of switching it to a synthetic (like Mobil 1 15w-50), my understanding is that this may be a bad idea on my long-running engine due to the condition of seals etc. Am I right? Should I keep doing what I'm doing? (It aint broke...) or should I make the switch? -Wes '84 manual 1.9l
