I had the external water supply dis-connected for a while, with no problems. Then my wife and I got tired of the westy faucet and we designed what we consider a 'better' and very cheap alternative. For pictures go to: http://photos.yahoo.com/mwstebbins and click on "Faucet Mod" for the write up, see: Sink faucet modification: http://gerry.vanagon.com/cgi-bin/wa.exe?A2=ind0202D&L=vanagon&P=R13315 horn button: http://gerry.vanagon.com/cgi-bin/wa.exe?A2=ind0209D&L=vanagon&P=R24396

If for some reason, you get water comming back through the external line, then just plug that line with a bolt and clamp.
