I took it to a guy I typically trust but isn't a VW guy...one of his mechanics broke the stud of the eye link getting it off costing me the price of a new one. Once off I paid him what I owed him and drove home with the bar and broken link in a box on the floor. I drove at 60 on an interstate for 20 minutes without a big issue. As long as you don't go flying into exit ramps or take any tight turns quick it shouldn't be a problem.
