Hi all Well im on the put the 2 case halves together section of the 1,9L Build up in my 85 vanagon westi waterboxer. What i normally use for my aircooled vws is either Aviation form a gasket or Loctite 515 gasket eliminator. Ive had great luck with both. so my question is: 1) can i use loctite 515 on putting my case halves together on the 1.9L wbx. since lost in the corners of my pole barn i cant find my cup of aviation form a gasket. 2) can i use it any where else. If i remember right it says not to use on any oxygen rich areas which i would consider intake/ fuel. but would water jacket count? since there is H2O present? Just wondering. 3) case half nuts and cap nuts. for in the water area use the kits goo since it is exposed to water and oil?? how about the washer and nut for the outside the water jacket Use 515 on that one. am i just over thinking it. I just want to put this together and not worry about the stupid stuff. I Have the rebuild "kit" that includes the Tubes of Goo!! it has 2 large tubes and 2 small unmarked tubes. As for the pistons and cylinders is the Kit of goo used for between the case and cylinders or just use the green O ring and not worry about it?? thanks for the insight. Im hoping to put the case halves together tomarrow evening. then install the pistons and cylinders to at least one side if not both.
