Subject: Re: Frozen slave cylinder

Oh yeah, I forgot about the master cylinder. It looks impossiable, but is ez. Dont replace the feeder hose with a rubber hose, as brake fluid is not compatable with rubber. The existing grey hose is still fine.Put lots of newspaper on the floor and a saucer of something to catch the fluid that will drain from the hose when the master cylinder is being removed.

The attaching bolts and flare nut are easy to remove. I didnt need to adjust the pushrod in mine. I only undid the attaching bolts/flare nut, and let the cylinder drop down for hose removal. This proceedure is mostly done in the blind.I just removed the cylinder and stuck the new one on. The pushrod is just stuck up behind the dash, where you cant see it, and into its seat.Reattach the bolts and nut.

Bleeding this master cylinder is more difficult. I pumped about 3000 times and got the system to pump up , by luck,or accident. Some say to press the clutch pedal to the floor, and tie it off in the pressed position for about an hour. Fluid will drain to the rear slave(open that valve too).I fear a pressure bleeding device is needed here to do it right.Havent dont this proceedure yet.Goodluck.
