Subject: Re: Wierd (Ignition?) Problem...

Hello again. Last night I remembered that the coil can act this way also.Intermittant shorting out. How long does the problem last when the engine cuts out? The distributor in my Ford Fairmont was located snug up against the engine , and took two hours to recover. Is this how long it takes your engine to start again? If it takes less time than two hours, maybe the component that is the problem,is located further away from the engine. Components further away will cool sooner. This would indicate the coil or hall control,as opposed to the hall sender inside the distributor.

If you can narrow it down to one of these, go driving and when the engine conks out, be ready with your multi meter to do a check.Coil check is ez, but bring your flash light.
