Don't you feel a sense of accomplishment, sattisfaction and security( as
much as can be had with a Vanagon), now that you have been through it
personally??
No more mysteries and unknowns, which sprouts fears of getting stuck
somewhere in the middle of nowhere??
I know I sure felt that way.

Just remember to repack them in 25,000 miles. Do it every time and those
CV's will last forever. Inspect regularly for toorn boots, though. A
torn boot will trash a CV in short order. You can re-pack with a needle
point grease gun by getting the needle up under the shaft side of the
boot and squirting the grease in there. Then milk the boot around to get
the grease where it needs to go. I would not do it but every other time
though. The do need to be disassembled, cleaned and inspected, and
regreased at about 50,000 mile intervals. But fresh grease every 25,000
is key.
