Has this idea ever been brought up? Dont need to tell about all the VW special tools, ect, that may only be used once.I think most owners have some sort of tool for the vanagon that probably wont ever be used twice,or will sit in the tool box taking up space. When that steering colum needs another bushing you will be prepared this time, in the year 2055.

Auto Zone and Pep Boys have loner tool programs that seemsto work, only few know about them and few use them. Most of the tools are brand new or almost new. Most dont fit the vanagon though. I mean the tools get returned in good shape. Basically the borrower buys the tool and gets the charge retracted from their credit card once the tool is returned.A tool library is not a new idea.

It would be alot of work, and would need several people doing it,with a small budget. Shipping and handling costs,Small wear parts replacement, new tool purchacing.

Here are some tools I would liike avaliable:

1) Didgitool 2) Didgitool 3) Didgitool 4) Fuel pressure tester 5) Cooling system pressure tester 6) Vaccum pump 7) Torque wrenches 8) Micrometer 9) Dial indicator 10) Front end VW special tools for press work 11) Other VW special tools 12)CO test equipment(good luck) 13) The list goes on and on

I suppose donations of money and duplicate or seldom used tools could start things off. Borrower pays shipping and handling plus a small fee($5?). A small fee to join $10).Some tools will need to be purchaced in duplicate. The money may add up and new , requested tools, can be added. What tools would you like to see?I think BD had a loner tool for head gasket replacement, but is didnt work too well.
