My solution has been a thinnish speaker box designed for pickup trucks and a
12" subwoofer behind the drivers seat.  It is capable of ridiculous volumes
(I didn't set out to do that...)

Pros:  includes a free back massage while in use, able to handle as much
power as you want to throw at it up to 1000w, easy to install/remove/put
outside for camping (if you are into that kind of thing, I am not)

Cons: Expensive, requires amp (which I have in bench seat), drivers seat
cannot rotate nor slide back all the way.  I have never rotated the seat so
dont miss it.  Need to take it out to access aux battery (which is hopefully
almost never)

I am acutally thinking of "downgrading" the setup to a modestly powerful
head unit with in-dash CD player and seeing if I even need any subwoofing at
all.  I dont like the cd-changer setup the van came with, and don't really
ever boom the bass enough to justify such power.  It was fun to test though,
I admit.
