Subject: question for engine conversionists and thanks for the advice on
              the door handle!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

I have an I4 in my 85 westy. When I installed the plumbing (Coolant hoses), I cut off the ends (about 4 inches/7.5 cm in length) of the very long & curvy hoses (from the 1.9 WBX) that normally were attached to the 2 large diameter hoses that go to the radiator at the vanagon front. I estimate that the outside diameter on the hoses is about 2 inches/5 cm where were attached at the "firewall." These hoses immediately reduced down to a smaller size diameter, to about 1.5 inches/3.5-4 cm. I would like to replace these hoses soon, as they are older than the rest of the hoses. These 1.9 WBX hoses are very expensive (parts 025-121-062 and 025-121-102), so I would rather find a similar replacement that is less expensive and less wasteful. These hoses are also getting harder to find and I would rather leave them for those who still have the WBXs. Can any of you engine conversionists suggest an appropriately sized replacement?

I can get better measurements of the hoses tonight.

Pius
