It's the nylon in the fabric combined with the low humidity conditions this time of year. I work in an office with nylon carpets and metal file cabinets. We spray the carpet with a solution of fabric softener & water (1:5) and it seems to help. Also "slapping" the metal to dissapate the charge works too. Cat Lola '85 vanagon camper
