I have the Xantrex 1000 purchased from Costco about 2 years ago. It does spark when off while connecting up and it too made me wonder if it has draw. After having it connected to my 2nd battery for over 2 years now and parked for weeks at a time I would agree that it does only an initial charge when first connecting, and then zero draw on the batt while off.
