The diesel mounting points are there on all of them, at least from 82 on. The diesel also had a small reinforcing plate for the mounting points on each side of the license plate door. The 2 threaded holes are always there on each side but the plate welds over them to add another thickness of metal so that area does not deform over time. You can bolt the carriers right in without the plates but long term there would likely be a problem. The plates also add the third, top hole, on each side.
