You can just dump it in your tank and it'll run, but an engine really needs to be tuned to run on it, as its combustion characteristics differ somewhat from those of gasoline. It will also give considerbly lower performance.

I once ran a Honda XL175 out of gas, and the only flammable liquids I could find were 2-propanol (acetone) and ethanol.
